OK this story really bothers me. At a Chicago Bulls game last week, there was this stupid dentist sitting in the expensive seats.  The mascot is making his way to the court and giving people high five’s.  This stupid dentist tries to get a high five from the mascot, and it is not convenient for the mascot.  The mascot falls down trying to lean close enough to give the stupid dentist a high five.  As the mascot falls he grabs onto the stupid dentists arm. I am sure he grabbed it out of reflex and not with malice.

The dentist stays and watches the whole game.  Then after the game he decides to get it looked at. His claim is that his bicep is torn and he will miss 4 months of work. He is now suing the mascot for damages.

There are a few things that piss me off about this. I have had a torn muscle. It hurts like a mother f(radio-edit). You don’t just sit and watch a 2 hour game with a torn muscle. Another thing is that what exactly did the mascot do that was malicious or neglectful?  It was an accident. nothing more than that.  Why can’t this jack ass just admit he is fishing for money.  Man I hate people.  I love humanity I hate people.  I love humanity I hate people.

Britney Spears.  Ok, I honestly think the media had a feeding frenzy with her, and they actually ate her alive. The thing that I found disturbing was how much the public wanted the sacrificial killing.  I was not interested at all, but ended up knowing way more than I EVER wanted to know about Britney. She was everywhere.  Well she didn’t put herself everywhere, the media did.  It was ridiculous.

I am actually glad to see her continue to do what she does.  She is going to be on How I Met Your Mother again.  I am still not a fan of hers, and I think she needs some trustworthy loving people around her. But I have to give her credit for continuing to try to stay in the spotlight that has beaten her up so bad.

I know this subject is less than I probably should write about.  But it is the best I could come up with today, and I wanted to meet my goal of posting more frequently.

So tax time is over, and I go to look up what is new in Hollywood. This is always a good time.  It looks like Rob Lowe’s nanny is claiming he is a bad boy. She says he used to grope her, and put his hand down her pants “to touch her crotch”.  Apparently he is not the only kinky person in the house.  His wife also allegedly would walk around naked, and talk about her sex life with the nanny.

Ok, if that is true, shame on the Lowes’ and they maybe should give the nanny some money for her “pain and suffering”.  My problem with this is that the nanny’s older sister worked for the Lowes. The nanny herself has worked for the Lowes’ on and off for seven ..... yes I said seven.... years. She has quit and most importantly come back over and over for the last SEVEN YEARS.

The last time this poor little nanny quit working for the Lowes she supposedly sent them emails the day after she left telling them that she loved the Lowes and that it had nothing to do with them.  That is quie a bit different than having Rob stick his hand down your pants to “touch her crotch”.  If that were happening to me ( and I didn’t want it to) I am pretty sure I would quit and at least not send an email thanking them for the experience.

Investigators have interviewed several present and past employees, and found no one who can support the nanny’s story. Humm I am not a Rob Lowe fan (besides the Outsiders) but this smacks of extortion, and an attempt to take advantage of someone who has money and is probably a nice guy.

The best part is that the nanny’s attorney has made a statement saying that the nanny “Loved the kids. Needed the job.  Thought it would get better, and I was scared.” Loved the kids..ok I will buy that.  Needed the job..... not a problem with that.   Thought it would get better?  That one I am unclear about.  Get better how?  By having Rob sleep with you? Maybe a three way with his wife? My personal favourite is I was scared. OMG!!  If you were scared, quit the first time and DON’T GO BACK.  PRESS CHARGES RIGHT THEN!!!

I hate stupid people I love humanity.  I hate stupid people I love humanity.  I hate stupid people I love humanity. I hate stupid people I love humanity.  Ok I am all better now.

Ok It has happened.  Madonna has forced me out of my long silence. She is trying to re-launch her acting career by remaking Casablanca.  WTF? This is so wrong on so many levels it boggles the mind.  First of re-launch?  Shouldn’t she at least have one good performance before she “re-launches? Or is it like the old joke “I am working on my second million dollars....because the first million was too hard?”

Second she is going to completely pollute one of the finest moves made with two of the finest performances of their time?  That is a very tall order even by an accomplished actress.  Madonna is NOT an accomplished actress. I am not sure the word actress even applies here.  She has been in movies, even held the lead part in some. But an actress she is not.

No one sees Meryl Streep, Cate Balnchett, Hellen Mirren, or any of the actresses who might have the skills to actually do a remake of a film of this caliber trying to do so.  Does Madonna wonder why?  Well if she happens to come to our lttle slice of the web, I will tell her. Because they don’t need to create a media circus to re-launch their careers. Also it is foolish to do so with such a film.  Why doesn’t Madonna just remake Gone With The Wind?  That should fix her acting career.

To sum up. Madonna (yes I am talking to you) stick to what you know.  Music.  Do soundtracks, contribute songs to a soundtrack, hell even try scoring a film.  Stay out of acting. You are not an actress.  I am not trying to hurt you or be mean.  I am trying to be your friend and save you some embarrassment.

Have a movie day.

I’d like to start the New Year off with a review of the recently released edition of Ron Howard’s first feature film project as a director,Grand Theft Auto.  The “Tricked-Out Edition” comes to us as part of the Roger Corman DVD Collection and is supported by a couple nice behind the scenes segments and an audio commentary featuring both Howard and Corman.

The first featurette is a short documentary entitled “A Family Affair”.  In this segment we are given a perspective of the film though the eyes of Howard’s younger brother, Clint, and his father, Rance.  The pair also spends some time candidly reflecting on the family’s collective lives in the entertainment industry.  “A Family Affair” runs about eight and a half minutes and is a fun watch for fans of the Howard family.

The “Tricked-Out Edition” DVD also features an introduction to the film by the “King of the B’s” himself, Roger Corman.  While it probably has taken you longer to read this review than it would to watch the entire thirty second introduction, it’s still neat to see Corman reflecting on his memories working with Howard.

There is, of course, also an original theatrical trailer, but the key selling point here is the lovely job done with the transfer.  The film looks and sounds better than it ever could have at any 1970’s drive-thru that it played at.  For a film with such a humble financial background, this DVD plays it like it’s brand new.

All in all, the Grand Theft Auto “Tricked-Out Edition” DVD is a great grab for the price.  For more information on the film, like a plot synopsis and behind the scenes information, take a look at our Grand Theft Auto page.

Thanks and have a wonderful week.

Hello and welcome to The Gods of Filmmaking.  Our humble little website is specifically designed to celebrate film and those who have dedicated their lives to it.  If you have already poked around the site a little bit, you may have noticed that our pages are a little rough around the edges.  The reason for that is that we are currently elbow-deep in a massive redesign. Pardon the cliché, but please excuse our dust because we are quite literally still under construction.

Before we delve too far into what we have in store, let us share with you where we have been.  The Gods of Filmmaking was first launched in November of 1999.  If you were there in the beginning you will remember a Geocities banner up top and a whole hell of a lot of yellow.  Two years later we found our freedom when purchased our own little slice of the World Wide Web.  Over the years we have evolved and grown, traffic has ebbed and flowed, many features have come and gone, but ultimately what remains is a love film and filmmakers.

So keep an eye on us over the next few months because we have a lot in the pipeline.  If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to shoot us an email.  Or if you feel like chatting with other film enthusiasts, drop by our message board.  Thanks and see you around.
