Trespass (1992)
Starring Bill Paxton, William Sadler, Ice-T, and Ice Cube. Cinematography by Lloyd Ahern. Edited by Freeman Davies. Produced by Neil Canton. Written by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. Directed by Walter Hill.
Don and Vince (played by William Sadler and Bill Paxton) are a couple of firefighters living in Arkansas. One day, while searching a burning apartment building for survivors, they come across an old man sifting through the drawers of his bureau. He rambles on about gold hidden in the floor, hands Vince a small sack, and ends his life by running into the flames.
Back at the station house Don and Vince examine the mysterious bag which contains newspaper clippings referring to a small fortune in religious artifacts that were stolen back in the Forties, a small golden cross, and a makeshift map detailing the fifth floor of a warehouse located in East St. Louis. Don and Vince decide to take a road trip to Missouri to search for what they hope is a buried treasure. But little do they know that the warehouse is now the turf of a local gang, and soon a deadly battle breaks out.
Originally called Looters, pic underwent a title change, a delay and some alterations after the LA riots in spring '92. Understandably so: the level of racial tension depicted here is way past the boiling point.

Quote: “That's the beauty of gold; it never tarnishes. Lasts forever, too. You can twist it, pound it, even piss on it but it's always the same gold. It was here long before we were and it'll be here a long time after we're gone. I bet you a lot of men have died for the gold that's just in this one piece.”
