Tootsie (1982)
Tootsie won the Academy Award for supporting actress. Nominated for cinematography, editing, song, sound, and screenplay written directly for the screen, director, supporting actress, actor, and picture.
Winner of the American Film Institute’s top one hundred movies of all time: number sixty-two.
Fairly entertaining film about a man trying to make it in a woman's world. An actor, desperate for work, tries out for a role on a popular day time soap. The catch is that the role is for a female character.
He dresses drag and ends up winning the part. The facade holds up for a long while and his/her celebrity popularity skyrockets, but he can’t keep up his lie forever. Good movie, but top one hundred of all time? I don't know. (Uncredited writing by Barry Levinson)
