The Last of the Mohicans (1992)

Won the Academy Award for sound. Hawkeye is an abandoned English settler who was raised by the Mohicans. When war is fought on American soil by the French and the English, local tribes are enlisted for battle. Hawkeye, both Indian and English, favors neither side and takes care of his own. Mann has said that the first film that he remembers seeing as a child was the 1936 original version of this movie. The experience of that film stuck with him through his years, hence the inspiration for this project. Mann had a difficult time finding props and wardrobe from the corresponding period, so almost everything that was used in the film was made special for this film. (Written and directed by Michael Mann)
