The Last Boy Scout (1991)
A classic set up of two mismatched crime fighting partners. Bruce Willis (our hero) as the burned out private dick and Damon Wayans as the high-strung sports superstar. The story is about an investigation into corrupt football players and kingpins. This movie has a great many similarities to the Lethal Weapon formula, but hell, it was written and produced by the same guys. And Willis didn’t exactly break out of the mold as a one-line tossing socially unacceptable super cop. But all in all, pretty enjoyable. The ending left itself wide open for a sequel, but nothing has come of that yet. (Directed by Tony Scott)
