The End of the Affair (1999)
Nominated for the Academy Award for cinematography and supporting actress. This highly acclaimed drama is about a torn relationship between a woman's love and her God. On a terrible World War II bombing raid, a woman makes a deal with God that she will give up her relationship with her lover if He will allow him to survive the bombing. The lover does indeed survive, but ending the relationship proves to be impossible. Details of the difficult relationship are played out over the rest of the film.
