Spy Game (2001)

This film is a fantastic, high-energy espionage thriller that sports a strong pace and an intelligent story. It is told as a day in the life of a retiring CIA agent. The retiring agent learns that his protégé and partner has been captured by the Chinese and manipulates the international law enforcement system to get him free. Most of the action in the film is told through a series of flashbacks as the retiring agent explains the nature of his relationship with the protégé to his superiors. The movie was trimmed down as far as terrorist activity goes due to the events of September 11, 2001, but not to a point where it damages the film. All in all, Scott's talent shines through beautifully. (Directed by Tony Scott)
