Despite the fact that he is goofy looking, Ron Howard has become one of Hollywood's top directors in the past decade.  His early comedic projects have blended beautifully into a wonderful mix of drama and action.  Surely, way back in the day when Opie was tossin' stones in the pond, he would have never imagined that he would make such an impact on filmmaking.  Or maybe he did and that's why he has.
