Romancing the Stone (1984)
Nominated for the Academy Award for editing.
A movie that we here at the Gods of Filmmaking believe could have only been made and appreciated in the eighties. But looking back, it's still really fun to watch.
It's about a romance novelist that goes to South America to rescue her sister. On the way she meets this crazy guy and together they share some over the top adventures and eventually fall in love. The film was followed by The Jewel of the Nile, a decent but forgettable sequel. Zemeckis had no involvement in this film. (Directed by Robert Zemeckis)
