Mean Streets (1973)

This film is about life on the streets of Little Italy in New York City. It follows a group of people and shows how they handle the "mean streets" that surround them. Certainly this is the film that made people initially recognize Scorsese’s talent, and is still considered by many to be his best work. This is also Scorsese’s first project with Robert De Niro. De Niro has been featured in eight of Scorsese’s films as of the year 2000; roughly 36% of all of Scorsese’s full length feature work. (Written and directed by ink]Martin Scorseseink]
