High Spirits (1988)
This film is set in a castle/inn that is about to be repossessed for its lack of incoming funds. To spice up the castle’s reputation and hopefully draw in a few more guests, the castle’s owners decide to pretend that it is haunted. The scheme starts working and people start moving in to see the ghosts, but the problems begin when they discover real ghosts lurking in the shadows. Originally intending to be a lighthearted, slapstick comedy, the films producers screwed with Jordan’s screenplay so much that the cast literally started complaining that the project was not the same one they signed on for. None the less, the film was completed poorly and stayed that way. (Written and directed by Neil Jordan)
