Green Card (1990)

Nominated for the Academy Award for screenplay written directly for the screen. The tagline for this film kind of sums it up best. "The story of two people who got married, met, and then fell in love". A Frenchman needs a green card to work in America. A horticulturist needs a spouse to move into an apartment with a greenhouse. The solution is obvious. With an incredible eighty plus film roles previous to this movie, this is Gerard Depardieu’s first English speaking role. (Written and directed by Peter Weir)
