Go (1999)
For lack of a better descriptive word, this film is great. The acting is wonderful, the action is intense, and the story is brilliant. The film is set in one particular night and is shown through the prospective of three different short stories whose plots interweave with each other. Very, very nicely done. The story was originally written a short including only the "Ronna" sequence. After showing it to his friends the writer, John August found that they were more curious about what happened next than what happened during the scene. So he fleshed it out into and full length film that he drafted to be an independent. Before shooting started the picture was bought by Columbia/Tri-Star. So what we have here is the best of both worlds: the freedom and grittiness of an independent project, and the funding of a studio project. (Directed by Doug Liman)
