Forrest Gump (1994)

Won the Academy Award for editing, visual effects, screenplay based from previous material, director, actor, and picture.
Nominated for art direction/set decoration, cinematography, sound effects, make-up, score, sound, and supporting actor.
Winner of the American Film Institute's top one hundred movies of all time: number seventy-one.

For some reason one of the all time most hailed movies of all time. Don't get me wrong, it's really a good movie, but top one hundred ever? Best picture over Pulp Fiction? Over Shawshank Redemption? We think not. But it's nice to see Zemeckis win a directorial Oscar.

Anyway, the film follows a simple minded man's involvement through dozens of events that shaped the world. The novel that the film was based from is themed as more of a satire, while the film takes a more dramatic approach. The screenplay for the film floated around for almost ten years before anyone picked it up. (Directed by Robert Zemeckis)
