Damn, this is a great movie. About a shock talk radio DJ that inadvertently convinces a listener to commit a horrible a murder/suicide. The DJ's life crumbles and three years later he is wallowing in self pity and drowning in booze.
He comes in contact with an extraordinary homeless man whom he learns lost his wife in the killing spree that the DJ instigated. So in effort to redeem himself in his own mind, he bends over backwards to help the homeless man, but help is not what the homeless man wants. He wants the Holy Grail.
The "Fisher King" in biblical folklore is the guardian and defender of the cup of Christ. Gilliam found himself drawn to this project because of it's simplicity; his previous films being so dependent upon special effects strange settings to tell the story. (Directed by Gilliam)
