Sex. That's what it’s about. Every facet. The pleasure, the guilt, the fantasy, the love, the hate, the everything. The film is follows a seemingly happy married couple. One night the wife reveals to the husband a deep sexual fantasy of hers that involved another man and the husband storms off in a jealous rage.

He makes many stops along the way, but ends up at a mysterious orgy in a mansion outside of town. The rooms are filled with masked participants, but the husband is none the less recognized as an outsider and his life is threatened. The film proposes interesting questions. Is it only cheating if physical contact is made (kind of the Bill Clinton school of thought)? Is faithfulness solely in the action and not in the mind? Are there some things one just shouldn’t tell their mate? Very challenging questions for a relationship.

Stanely Kubrick died four days after submitting his final copy of the film. The American versions were altered during the orgy scene by placing computer-generated people in front of some of the more explicit sexual acts. This was done in effort to avoid an NC-17 rating, but in the opinion of Kubrick fans, tainted what was the final vision of the legendary filmmaker.
