Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1993)
Nominated for a couple of Razzie awards; this is largely considered to be Van Sant's worst piece of work. It's about a woman, born with an abnormally of a massive thumb, who hitchhikes across America to become a model. She ends up at the Rubber Rose Ranch and learns how to be a feminist or something. It seems to get confusing around this point. The film was premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 1993, and was to have a major release from there. But reaction was so bad that it was pulled for further editing that didn't seem to effect the final outcome. (Written and directed by Gus Van Sant)
