Diner (1982)
Nominated for the Academy Award for screenplay written directly for the screen.
Barry Levinson’s first adventure in direction, the movie is about five teenagers who meet everyday at their local diner. When the time comes for them to grow up and start living away from their hang out; leaving proves to be harder than anticipated. This is the first film in Levinson’s unofficial Baltimore chronicles.
Barry Levinson was born and raised in Maryland and bases a lot of his work there. (Written and directed by Barry Levinson)
