Dial M for Murder (1954)

Hitchcock did this film to fulfill a contractual obligation with Warner Brothers; and did it in 3D at that.  The film was only released only briefly in the trendy format, and then was changed to the "flat" screen appearance shortly thereafter.

The story is based on a popular play of the time written by Frederick Knott, who also wrote the screenplay. It follows a man's complicated plot to murder his wife, and the his witty improvisation as the plot thickens and changes. Very nice thriller, nice story, very nice overall. The picture only took one month to shoot as it was filmed almost entirely on one set.

The story was loosely remade in 1998 by Andrew Davis as A Perfect Murder.

(Directed by Alfred Hitchcock)
