Bringing Out the Dead (1999)
This film features the the life of a burned out ambulance driver and the horrible shit that he sees everyday on the streets of New York. It proudly sports a fantastic story and a brilliant cast, and Scorsese does an incredible job portraying the thoughts and emotions of his characters visually. I was surprised that this film was as overlooked as it was, critically anyway, but I would personally give it a high recommendation. And amazingly enough, the ever-annoying Nick Cage factor is held to a merciful minimum. (Directed by Martin Scorsese)
