Any Given Sunday (1999)

This is actually pretty damn good for a football movie. It's about life on and off the field for a cast of people involved with a team. There's a lot of clichés as far as the intertwined stories go, but they're all played pretty well. The on field action is intense with it's postmodern editing and effects and most of the acting is sharp; even by real life professional athletes. It's not the deepest film that Stone has done, but the guy's done Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, and JFK. He deserves a break. (Written and directed by Oliver Stone)
