A Beautiful Mind (2001)
Won the Academy Award for screenplay based from previous material, director, supporting actress, and picture. Nominated for original score, makeup, editing, and actor. This wonderful little picture documents the life of Nobel Prize winner, John Nash. The film shows his struggle to live a semi-normal life while dealing with paranoid schizophrenia and problems that he encounters with the disease. His wife and her love for him ends up being his anchor and ultimately the reason for his success. It’s amazing how well done the film is, and how it makes you believe in what you know not to be true. Russell Crowe is amazing and was completely robbed of his Oscar. (Not that Denzel was bad, but I feel like I have seen him play that part once or twice before.) Also, as a side note, Howard chose to film this chronologically, which is a pretty rare and amazing feat. (Directed by Ron Howard)
